Jim's Story

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved.”

Romans chapter 10 verse 9

The Hospital:

It was on the 4th January 2007 in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary that they broke the news. The curtains were drawn as the doctor sat on the edge of the bed and spoke to Jim and his wife. “We have studied the test results and I’m afraid it’s bad news. The cancer has spread and there is nothing more we can do, I’m very sorry.”

My wife and I arrived an hour later and were given the sad details. I asked Jim how he was coping with the situation and was impressed with his answer. “I know where I am going and I am prepared and ready.”

< >I wonder, dear reader, what your reaction would be if you faced a similar situation. Would you be calm or full of fear? Would you be ready to meet God? Have your sins been forgiven? The Bible tells us that “all have sinned”, Romans ch.3 v. 23. There are no exceptions. It tells us also that “Christ died for our sins”, 1st Corinthians ch. 15v.3. A man asked the question “What must I do to be saved?” The answer is so simple my friend “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” Acts ch. 16 v.31

If you desire to have peace with God and assurance of a place in Heaven then this verse is for you, “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” John ch. 14 v. 6.

Do not put off the decision to get right with God, this is the right time. “Behold NOW is the accepted time, behold NOW is the day of salvation.” 2nd Corinthians Ch. 6 V. 2

The Present:

On the 1st February 2007 Jim passed peacefully out of this life into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. How comforting to hear the Pastor say, “Absent from the body, present with the Lord who died for him”.

I know this is true and I will meet Jim again when I too meet my Saviour face to face.
