What we believe, and our scripture authority for these beliefs, is:
The Bible is inspired by God and is the final authority on all spiritual matters.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3 v 16
The need of salvation from sin.
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” 1 Timothy 2 v 3-4
The Lord Jesus Christ is both fully man and fully God and is the only means of our salvation.
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” Colossians 2 v 9
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” Acts 4 v 12
There is one God eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son & Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus Christ alone is the Head of the church. He is the only mediator between God and men.
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”1 Timothy 2 v 5
Eternal life is a gift from God and is received by grace through faith apart from any merit.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6 v 23
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” Ephesians 2 v 8-9
The need to meet together as believers, for the remembering of the Lord and His death, prayers and Bible teaching.
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” Acts 2 v 42 |
